Question of the Week
One of my goals for you this semester is that you become familiar with the Lindenwood School of Education and what you can expect over the next 4 years of your life. In order to do this, you need to be very familiar with the Lindenwood website, and in particular, the School of Education section of the website. The following link should take you to the School of Education section of the website. http://www.lindenwood.edu/academics/education/onlineResources.aspPlease browse the site and find something new that you either didn't know before or that you didn't know was on the website. You only have to post one reply this week. It is not necessary that you reply to a classmate. HOWEVER, you must find something on the website that is different than what the previous posts have indicated. Here are a few things to remember while you are looking for information:1. It must be related to either Education or your Secondary Field of Study.2. It can be a form you found on the Guide to Undergraduate Teacher Education, but you must specify what the form is about and when you would use it.3. It can be something about Student Teaching, but be specific about what you learned.4. It be something about Foliotek, but be specific about what you learned.5. It can be something about CBASE or Praxis, but be specific about what you learned.6. You will not submit information about a form that another student has already posted.7. There should be no repeat answers because there are 58 pages in the Guide to Undergraduate Teacher Education.See you guys next week - Remember we do have class!!!

I did not know that there was PRAXIS test codes on the web site. That's really good to know what scores you need to have and what tests you need to take.
I found the folioteck demo. which was kinda a way of explaining and breaking down what it actually is Im glad I know a little bit more of what the folioteck is since I'm spending so much money on it.
One thing that I found very helpful on the Lindenwood education site, is that they have a whole section on your portfolio. They have rubrics, tutorials, templates, reflection examples, and a portfolio matrix. I thought this was really cool because they have different links you can download on each subject. I also liked how there was so much information on the cbase test. I just took it for the first time, and using the study guides would have prepared me much more. I'm excited that if I have to take it again, I have a source that will tell me what i need to know.
i know that you showed us this in class but after class i went and signed up foe the cbase and then i went to the site and looked up the study guides for it. I saved them to my favorits and i'll do them closer to my december 6th test date. Its good to know that there are study guides available and i am sure that with them i'll be able to pass the test, no sweat!
please excuse my typos, i am sleepy :)
I did not know that initial Missouri Teacher Certification was usually completed in Student Teaching Seminar and I also did not know that all teachers had to get finger printed. I thought that was pretty cool.
I did not know that there was a certification program in library media which i assume means librarian which i found ery interesting. And I know that we dont have to comment on other posts but I think its cool that we get finger printed too.
When I was looking through the website (specifically in the Guide to Undergraduate Teacher Education), I found the application for Admission to the Teacher Education Program. I remember that you mentioned this application briefly in class before, but I was unsure of what it was and where I could find it. Now I know!!
This blog was difficult, Mrs. Bishop. But, I found something! I was looking through the code of ethics and I found that a student is not allowed to enroll in more than 15 credit hours of education untill the student passes the cbase. I had no clue! :P
I found all the papers that Mrs bishop gave the class when we do our obsevations so if u were to miss place like your time sheet you could print it off the Lindenwood web site.
I found the link for posting job applications for teaching positions. That's definately helpful.
When I was looking at the website I found Education Doctorate application and brochure. I learned that an educational administration track is a 48 credit hour program for people who want to be a principle or superintendent. I would have never known this was available if I didn't look at the website.
I never noticed the link at the very bottom that takes you to a page full of handy education sites. pretty nifty stuff. I checked a few of them out and they are really helpful for instance the grants link is totally awesome.
I looked at some of the extra helpful sites, the site had out there. I went to some of them to look at what they had. Some of them I went to was. Msta.org, eduref.org, Successlink.org, and the last one I checked out the most was dese.mo.gov. On dese I found stuff about other schools, any listings of jobs right now, and school finances. It was alot of help.
I didn't really even think they would have all this information on our website. I figured we would have to find it ourselves. I found the Elevn teaching standards. This all seems obvious to us but it was just kind of there for a reminder and i liked that...I also checked out pretty much everything on the site and its very helpful.
I did not know that the actual application for student teaching could be found on the website.
i found that there is no grad program for elementary education...can't imagine why anyone would need a grad for that, but its something i never really thought of and no i know doesnt exist!
im glad that nicole found the cbase study guides. i took the cbase and didnt use any prep hopefully the study guides will be effective and now that i know theryre there ill be sure to use them on round 2!
I found a Planned out 4 year plan for someone who is majoring in elementary education, which could be helpful to kind of guide someone through to choose what classes to take and when to take them.
I found the Education Division Code of Ethics. I didn't erven know there was such a thing, but with all the rules this school has I should have guessed there was one. Worth taking a look at.
I was unaware that Dr. Dean Vazis is in charge of the Folioteks at Lindenwood University. This will be useful later in our career here at Lindenwood.
I found a few surveyes you could take. The education program uses them to expand and better their program. I thought that was really cool to see that they take into consideration what teachers and other faculty members have to say.
I found the web link that shows other schools in Missouri and all their statistics. I thought this was interesting to compare schools and see how my high school statistics compared with other schools.
I found a checklist for observing teaching that was designed to asses the quality of 4 teaching methods. These methods include Interpersonal skills, curriculum structure and content, instruction, and classroom management. I just thought it would be very helpful to have a list of things to be looking for and thinking about while observing our teacher for our practicum.
